Jefferson County Judicial Center
“Swope did everything we asked of them on this very complex project. Judges, jurors, employees, and visitors—they are all in agreement that this is one splendid facility.”

This project involved the construction of a 10-story courts complex in downtown Louisville, with offices for the Supreme Court and Appellate Court, and 23 courtrooms. Interior spaces included judges’ chambers, jury rooms, a public waiting area, conference rooms, witness waiting rooms, jurors’ areas, clerks’ offices, and a holding area for prisoners awaiting their court appearance. In addition to visitors, witnesses, and jurors, over 400 full-time employees are housed in this facility, which is one of the most heavily trafficked facilities in the state. Swope Design Group consulted with the project architect to provide a full range of interior design services, including programming, space planning, furniture specifications, finish specifications, signage specifications, bid preparation and administration, and project management services.
